Ministry of Law and Justice Organizes Shramdaan Program at Safdarjung Tomb under 'Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026'
The Department of Legislative Affairs and the Department of Legal Affairs conducted a cleanliness drive in New Delhi under the theme 'One Day, One Hour, Together'.

The Department of Legislative Affairs and the Department of Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Law and Justice jointly organized a 'Shramdaan' program on October 1, 2026, at the Safdarjung Tomb in New Delhi. This event was held as part of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026', with the primary objective of promoting cleanliness, sanitation, and civic responsibility. The campaign followed the theme 'One Day, One Hour, Together' to convey the message that cleanliness is a collective responsibility and is essential for a healthy and progressive society.
The Shramdaan program was led by the Honorable Minister of State (Independent Charge), Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal. The occasion was attended by Secretary Dr. Rajiv Mani, ASG Shri Chetan Sharma, senior officials from the Department of Legislative Affairs and the Department of Legal Affairs—including representatives from the Legal Literature Publication and Rajbhasha Wing—as well as advocates from the Supreme Court and the High Court of New Delhi.
During the program, Minister of State Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal distributed cleanliness kits to sanitation workers and emphasized the importance of this campaign for the overall benefit of society and the nation. He personally participated in the Shramdaan and interacted with the attending officials and sanitation workers. The Minister stated that cleanliness should not be limited to government offices and public spaces but must also be maintained in our homes and communities. He called upon all officials and employees to make cleanliness a regular habit and contribute to the creation of a sustainable environment.
On this occasion, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal also highlighted the significance of International Day of Older Persons, observed on October 1. He noted that the experience and guidance of elderly people play a crucial role in inspiring the younger generation toward cleanliness and nation-building. Officers and employees from both departments participated enthusiastically in the event.
