Monthly Review of Government of India Accounts: Receipts Reach 13.67 Lakh Crore Rupees by August 2026
According to a report released by the Ministry of Finance, the Government of India has recorded total receipts of 13,67,709 crore rupees up to August of the 2026-27 financial year.
The Ministry of Finance has published the consolidation report of the monthly accounts of the Government of India up to August 2026 (Financial Year 2026-27). According to this report, the government has received a total of 13,67,709 crore rupees by August 2026, which represents 37.5 percent of the total budget estimates for the year 2026-27.
According to the breakdown of receipts, this includes 8,37,921 crore rupees in tax revenue (net to the Center), 4,54,549 crore rupees in non-tax revenue, and 75,239 crore rupees in non-debt capital receipts. During the same period, the Central Government transferred 5,90,391 crore rupees to state governments as their share of taxes, which is 60,243 crore rupees less than the previous year.
Regarding expenditure, the total spending by the Government of India up to August 2026 stood at 20,77,958 crore rupees, accounting for 38.9 percent of the budget estimates for 2026-27. Out of this total expenditure, 15,68,009 crore rupees were spent on the revenue account and 5,09,949 crore rupees on the capital account. Within the total revenue expenditure, 5,14,810 crore rupees were spent on interest payments and 1,87,037 crore rupees on major subsidies.
