SECI to Play Central Role in Achieving Clean Energy Goals: Shripad Yesso Naik

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) celebrated its 15th Foundation Day by organizing a meeting with various stakeholders. Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, attended the event as the chief guest. Shri Naik stated that SECI's 15-year journey symbolizes India's growing leadership in the global renewable energy sector. He expressed confidence that the corporation will continue to play a central role in realizing the country's clean energy vision.

The event was attended by several senior officials from the renewable energy sector, including Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairman of the CEA, Shri Mayank Tiwari, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and Shri Vivek Jain, Chairman of the INOXGFL Group. In his address, Shri Akash Tripathi, Managing Director of SECI, affirmed that the corporation is fully committed to creating new opportunities in the renewable energy sector and promoting innovations aligned with market needs.

Two special thematic sessions were conducted during the Foundation Day celebrations. The first session, titled "Reimagining Industry through Green Molecules," focused on reducing carbon emissions and industrial growth paths through green hydrogen and its derivatives. Policy makers and industrialists shared views on topics such as domestic production, infrastructure, technology, and financing. The second session, "Changing Energy Landscape: Distributed Renewable Energy and New Energy Markets," analyzed the integration of distributed energy resources, consumer participation, and the necessary regulatory frameworks.

SECI has achieved significant milestones over its 15 years of service. The company has facilitated the installation of over 41 gigawatts of renewable energy generation capacity with the help of third-party developers. Additionally, it has entered into power sale agreements exceeding 67 gigawatts with various DISCOMs and consumers, enabling a market investment of approximately 3.6 lakh crore rupees. Currently, the company is actively working on energy storage, green hydrogen, and the expansion of its own project portfolio.

Established on September 20, 2011, SECI is a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. It began as the dedicated implementation agency for the National Solar Mission and has now evolved into a leading renewable energy CPSE.
