Third International Bharat 6G Symposium 2026 Concludes with Focus on Global Partnerships and Indigenous Technology
Global telecommunications leaders gathered at the Third International Bharat 6G Symposium in New Delhi to discuss the development of an affordable and inclusive 6G ecosystem.

The Third International Bharat 6G Symposium 2026 has concluded at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, New Delhi. Organized by the Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) alongside the India Mobile Congress 2026, the three-day event brought together global telecom leaders, policymakers, standard organizations, industry representatives, academics, and researchers. The primary objective of the event was to discuss the framework for IMT-2030 and beyond.
Addressing the closing session, Dr. Chandra Shekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, congratulated the Bharat 6G Alliance for organizing the event and inviting over 75 speakers, including more than 30 international experts. He stated that India is now progressing toward becoming a significant telecom technology nation rather than just a large telecommunications market. The Minister emphasized that self-reliance and global cooperation are complementary, noting that the stronger India's internal capabilities become, the better partner it can be to the world.
Dr. Pemmasani warned that 6G technology must not create a new digital divide. He asserted that affordability, accessibility, and coverage should be the core design requirements. He stressed the integration of terrestrial and satellite networks to ensure connectivity reaches remote villages, islands, and oceans, mentioning that India aims to become a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
During the symposium, experts discussed critical topics such as the 5G-Advanced foundation, global standards, spectrum, WRC-27, AI-native networks, and sustainable networks. The event resulted in the exchange of five new agreements with GSMA, one6G, GTI Alliance, 6G Innovation Forum (6G IF) Taiwan, and VOICE, which will increase opportunities for joint research and testing. Additionally, B6GA released ten white papers, including a progress report on the shared principles of 6G.
On this occasion, the Department of Telecommunications announced the second edition of the 'Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave' (ESTIC) 2026, scheduled for October 27-29, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This conclave will be organized under the guidance of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser and CSIR, with the cooperation of 12 departments. On October 28, the Department of Telecommunications will lead a session on "Intelligent Networks and Quantum Communication," featuring a keynote address by Mr. N.G. Subramaniam, Vice President of TCS, and a panel discussion with experts from IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, HFCL, Reliance Jio, and the Bharat 6G Alliance. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT.
Established in July 2023, the Bharat 6G Alliance is an industry-led platform. Its goal is to bring together telecom service providers, startups, and academic institutions to promote indigenous innovation and international partnership for a secure, sustainable, and globally interoperable 6G ecosystem.
