Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal Plants Trees at IIAC Under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' Campaign
A tree plantation drive was organized at the India International Arbitration Centre in New Delhi on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, led by Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.

The Department of Legal Affairs, under the Ministry of Law and Justice, organized a tree plantation drive on October 1, 2026, as part of 'Special Campaign 6' and 'Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026'. The event, held at the India International Arbitration Centre (IIAC) in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, was based on the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (A Tree in the Name of Mother). The campaign was led by Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge).
Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal was joined by the Secretaries of the Department of Legislative Affairs and the Department of Legal Affairs, the President of IIAC Dr. Rajiv Mani, as well as senior officials and employees of the department and the institution. During the program, all dignitaries planted saplings within the IIAC premises.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal stated that true cleanliness begins from within the mind. He emphasized that cleanliness is not limited to the cleaning of roads and public spaces, but must start with a clean mind, pure thoughts, and a sense of duty toward society. Describing 'Swachhata Hi Seva' as a mass movement, he noted that the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, celebrated on October 2, reminds the nation of the importance of cleanliness, discipline, and service, which were integral parts of the vision for a self-reliant India.
Referring to Mahatma Gandhi's visit to Champaran in 1917, Shri Meghwal explained how Gandhiji initiated cleanliness efforts that later evolved into a broad public movement and helped in resolving the issues of indigo farmers. He expressed confidence that through collective efforts, IIAC would develop into an efficient and reliable arbitration center on a global scale, reflecting the values of transparency and discipline.
Dr. Rajiv Mani, President of IIAC, remarked that environmental cleanliness and the cleanliness of the mind complement each other. He spoke about the responsibility of institutions to adopt sustainable practices and contribute to the Swachh Bharat Mission. He assured that IIAC is committed to making India a preferred destination for international arbitration.
The program concluded with Shri Naveen Kumar Singh, CEO of IIAC, expressing gratitude to all the guests and reiterating the institution's commitment to environmental responsibility. The event ended with a pledge to promote a green and sustainable environment.
