Awareness Program on Labour Codes Organized in Okhla Industrial Estate Through 'Shram Samvad' Initiative
The Ministry of Labour and Employment organized a district-level capacity building program to educate employers and industry stakeholders about new labour codes and social security schemes.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment, in collaboration with FICCI and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, organized a district-level capacity building and awareness program titled 'Shram Samvad' at the Okhla Industrial Estate in New Delhi. The primary objective of the program was to provide employers and industry stakeholders with information regarding the labour codes implemented on November 21, 2025, and the central rules notified on May 8, 2026. Additionally, the session involved detailed discussions on the key provisions of the new framework and compliance requirements.
More than 100 participants from various sectors attended the program, including employers, industry representatives, HR professionals, legal and finance experts, and other key stakeholders associated with the labour and employment ecosystem. The inaugural session was addressed by Dr. P.K. Jena, Director of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, and Ms. Pallavi Shroff, Managing Partner and Executive Committee Member of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. The session was moderated by Ms. Pooja Ramchandani, Partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.
Technical sessions organized during the program covered several important topics. In the first session, Dr. P.K. Jena provided information on the objectives of the labour codes and the major reforms introduced under the new legislative framework. The second session, conducted by Labour Enforcement Officer Mo. Nadeem, shared practical information regarding the statutory obligations of employers and regulatory compliance.
In the third session, Mr. Manish Kumar Singh, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), explained the objectives, eligibility criteria, and benefits of the 'Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY)' in creating employment. In the fourth session, Welfare Administrator Mr. Sandeep Chaurasia highlighted the features of the 'Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) Yojana' and the role of pensions and social security for workers in the unorganized sector.
The program concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where participants received clarifications on their queries regarding labour codes, employer compliance, and social security schemes. This event served as a significant platform for developing an understanding of labour codes among employers and industry stakeholders and facilitating their effective implementation.
