Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals to Launch 'Special Campaign 6.0' Focusing on E-Waste Disposal and Workplace Efficiency

The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC), under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, has begun preparations for 'Special Campaign 6.0'. The campaign is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026. This year's campaign theme is centered on the 'effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste'.

Under this campaign, special emphasis will be placed on the identification and disposal of e-waste in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, and other applicable guidelines. Additionally, the department will focus on optimizing office space, disposing of unnecessary items and scrap, enhancing record management, and improving the overall workplace environment. In the preliminary phase of this campaign, various cleanliness activities were organized between September 15 and September 30.

Key focus areas of Special Campaign 6.0 include the identification of spaces for sustainable cleanliness, office beautification, the disposal of scrap according to General Financial Rules (GFR), and the simplification of administrative processes. The department will review pending references received from Members of Parliament, the Prime Minister's Office, state governments, and inter-ministerial cabinets. Furthermore, parliamentary assurances pending for more than three months will be monitored, and public grievances received from sources including CPGRAMS will be resolved in a timely manner. To strengthen record management, processes for weeding out physical files and closing e-files will be adopted.

It is noteworthy that the department successfully conducted 'Special Campaign 5.0' from October 2 to 31, 2025. During that period, revenue exceeding 9.18 lakh rupees was generated from scrap disposal, and 7,156 square feet of office space were cleared. Under record management, 4,792 physical files and 1,275 e-files were reviewed, resulting in the closure of 237 physical and 170 e-files. Additionally, six public grievances received during that time were fully resolved, and nine parliamentary assurances were monitored.

Public sector undertakings and autonomous institutions, including the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT), Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited (HOCL), and HIL, have played an active role in this initiative. To date, a total of 93 cleanliness activities have been conducted. The department aims to further strengthen the delivery of citizen-centric public services by promoting the maximum utilization of resources.
