Prime Minister and Lok Sabha Speaker Pay Tribute on Birth Anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla offered floral tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla offered floral tributes at the statues of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and former Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri in the Central Hall of the Constitution House on the occasion of their birth anniversaries. Several Members of Parliament, former members, and dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi. Lok Sabha Secretary General Shri Utpal Kumar Singh and Rajya Sabha Secretary General Shri P.C. Mody also paid their respects.
During the event, more than 500 school students from across the country, as part of the 'Know Your Leader' initiative, also paid tribute to the two national leaders. Addressing the youth on this occasion, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla called upon them to draw inspiration from the lives, ideals, and public service of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. He stated that to build a developed India, the youth should embrace truth, non-violence, simplicity, discipline, and a strong sense of duty.
Referring to Mahatma Gandhi, Shri Birla noted that his life demonstrated the power of truth, morality, non-violence, and Satyagraha, which inspired independence and justice movements not only in India but across the world. Highlighting the simplicity, honesty, and sense of duty of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, he recalled Shastri Ji's slogan 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,' which underscored the importance of national security and food security.
Shri Om Birla urged the youth to rise above personal achievements and contribute to the development and progress of the nation. He added that the dream of a developed India will be realized through the collective resolve and hard work of millions of Indians. In this program, 36 selected young participants shared their thoughts on the lives of both leaders and their global impact.
Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla visited Raj Ghat and Vijay Ghat to pay his tributes at the memorials of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, respectively.
