The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has published the results of independent drive tests conducted in the cities of Bilaspur and Janjgir-Champa in August 2026.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the results of Independent Drive Tests (IDT) conducted through its appointed agency in the cities of Bilaspur and Janjgir-Champa under the MP LSA in August 2026 for the information of general consumers. The primary objective of these tests was to examine the real-time quality of voice and data services provided by Telecom Service Providers (TSPs).
These drive tests were conducted between August 17, 2026, and August 20, 2026, under the supervision of TRAI's Bhopal regional office. In Bilaspur, a total of 346.7 km of city drive, 29.7 km of inter-operator calling, and a 3.6 km walk test were performed. Areas covered during the tests in Bilaspur included Limtara, Darighat, Torwa, Sirgitti, Basia, Silpahari, Tarbahar Chowk, Telipar, Gol Bazar, Rajkishore Nagar, Narmada Nagar, Birkona, and Lokhandi. Meanwhile, in Janjgir-Champa, tests were conducted in areas such as NH49, Paraghat Toll, Taraod, Nariyara, Mulmula, Vyas Nagar, Bhainso, Banhil, Amartal, Janjgir, Madwa, Jarve, Udayband, Ghatoli, and Seoni.
The main parameters of the investigation included coverage gaps, voice services (call setup success rate, drop call rate, and call silence), and data services (download/upload throughput, latency, jitter, and packet drop rate).
According to data performance, the average download speed in Bilaspur was recorded at 177.88 Mbps for RJIL (5G), 128.61 Mbps for Airtel (5G), 21.58 Mbps for VIL (4G), and 12.33 Mbps for BSNL (4G). In Janjgir-Champa, the average download speeds were 112.13 Mbps for RJIL (5G), 90.93 Mbps for Airtel (5G), 20.37 Mbps for VIL (4G), and 11.93 Mbps for BSNL (4G).
Regarding drop call statistics, Airtel and RJIL recorded one drop call each in Bilaspur, while BSNL recorded seven and VIL recorded two. In Janjgir-Champa, Airtel and RJIL saw zero drop calls, BSNL recorded one, and VIL recorded three.
TRAI has shared these results with the respective telecom service providers to enable them to make necessary improvements to their services. The detailed report is available on TRAI's official website.
