Union Minister of State Dr. L. Murugan Conducts Shramdaan and Tree Plantation at IIMC Under 'Swachhata Hi Seva' Campaign
Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, led a cleanliness pledge and planted trees for environmental conservation at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in New Delhi.

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, participated in various programs organized under the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in New Delhi. Addressing the students, officials, and employees of the institute, he referred to the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 and explained how this mission has transformed cleanliness into a mass movement.
Dr. Murugan emphasized that keeping the country, offices, and institutions clean is a collective responsibility. He called upon those present to contribute through cleanliness services at Anganwadi centers, temples, and other public spaces. The program commenced with a cleanliness pledge, which was joined by faculty members, officers, employees, students, and trainees of the Indian Information Service (IIS).
Taking a step toward environmental protection, Dr. Murugan planted a sapling on the IIMC campus under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative. While interacting with the students, he explained the importance of not only planting trees but also ensuring their continuous maintenance and care.
As part of the campaign, the Union Minister of State engaged in one hour of Shramdaan alongside students and institute staff, during which waste and construction materials were cleared from the campus. During this period, he also inspected the institute's academic and infrastructure facilities, including newly constructed classrooms, teaching blocks, a hostel under construction, and the renovated library.
Dr. Murugan praised the efforts being made by IIMC in the areas of environmental awareness, campus development, and student participation. The event was attended by other dignitaries, including IIMC Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, Registrar and DG Training Mr. L. Madhu Nag, and Senior Economic Advisor Mr. R.K. Jena.
