Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the 58th Foundation Day celebrations of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. On this occasion, he praised ICSI's journey of nearly six decades in strengthening transparent, ethical, and inclusive corporate governance.
The Vice President described good governance as an 'invisible infrastructure' that sustains investor confidence and public trust. He referred to company secretaries as the 'guardians of governance' and the center of the trust architecture of the Indian industry. Shri Radhakrishnan stated that investor confidence is essential for continuous economic progress in a modern economy, and that company secretaries play a vital role in enabling listed companies, startups, family businesses, and enterprises to grow responsibly.
Discussing the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced data analytics, the Vice President noted that while technology can transform decision-making processes and the methods of generating information, the obligation of integrity, accountability, transparency, and responsibility will always remain with humans.
Emphasizing the goal of Viksit Bharat @2047, he asserted that strong institutions and governance will be as important as physical and digital infrastructure. He identified ICSI, ICAI, and ICMAI as the key institutional pillars of a robust corporate and economic ecosystem.
During the event, the Vice President launched the 'MSME Compliance Calendar 2027' and commended ICSI's various initiatives for startups and MSMEs. He also praised the institute's fee-waiver initiative and ICSI's contributions to the National Defence Fund and the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund under the 'Shaheed ki Beti' initiative.
Concluding his address, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan called upon India to aspire to become the world's largest economy so that the country is not subjected to unwanted terms imposed by others. Several dignitaries were present on the occasion, including ICSI President CS Pawan Chandak, former Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sonal Mansingh, and ICSI Secretary CS Ashish Mohan.
