A national-level camp organized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment saw participation from over 3,800 local bodies, providing health screenings and PPE kits to lakhs of SafaiMitras.

A national-level SafaiMitra Suraksha evam Samman Shivir, conducted in hybrid mode in the national capital, successfully reached 3,69,469 beneficiaries. The program recorded the participation of more than 3,800 Urban Local Bodies (ULB), Rural Local Bodies (RLB), and line departments. The event was also held physically across various participating locations to ensure that health, safety, welfare, and social security services reached sanitation workers directly.
A senior official from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment stated that states such as Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and Bihar showed great enthusiasm by organizing health camps in their major municipal corporations. According to the official, this active participation from the states made it possible to provide health check-up services to SafaiMitras who regularly face occupational health risks during their work.
Detailing the achievements of the camp, the official revealed that 3,02,958 health check-ups were conducted through this initiative. Additionally, 2,24,521 Namaste cards were downloaded by beneficiaries, and 57,967 Ayushman cards were distributed to make health and social security benefits more accessible. To enhance occupational safety, 1,28,928 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits were also distributed.
Furthermore, 1,53,253 registrations under various government schemes were facilitated during the camp, helping SafaiMitras connect with welfare measures. The ministry official noted that this camp reflects the government's commitment to creating a safe, healthy, and dignified sanitation ecosystem while recognizing the vital contribution of SafaiMitras.
The primary objective of the event was to honor the contributions of SafaiMitras and sanitation workers and to provide them with access to healthcare, safety equipment, and government scheme benefits through a shared platform. The initiative underscores the importance of coordinated efforts between the Central Government, state governments, and local bodies to ensure last-mile service delivery.
