Department of Food and Public Distribution Concludes 'Swachhata Hi Seva-2026' Campaign
The Department of Food and Public Distribution successfully concluded the 'Swachhata Hi Seva-2026' campaign across the country with various cleanliness and awareness activities.

The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) successfully concluded the 'Swachhata Hi Seva-2026' (SHS-2026) campaign on October 2, 2026, through various cleanliness and awareness activities conducted across the country. The campaign commenced on September 17, 2026, with the administration of a cleanliness pledge.
During this fortnight, the department organized numerous programs in collaboration with its public sector undertakings, affiliated offices, and subordinate offices. These activities included cleanliness drives in government offices, door-to-door awareness campaigns, painting competitions, and walkathons. Additionally, plantation drives were carried out under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, along with activities such as “One Day, One Hour, Together” and cultural programs including poetry recitations, street plays, and slogan writing.
On the eve of Swachh Bharat Diwas, officials participated in cleaning activities aimed at strengthening the message of cleanliness and the dignity of labor. On the concluding day, floral tributes were paid to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his 157th birth anniversary, which was celebrated as 'Swachh Bharat Diwas.' On this occasion, the department's 'Safai Mitras' were honored with gifts in recognition of their contributions.
Various organizations carried out special activities under the campaign. The Food Corporation of India (FCI) organized a closing ceremony at its headquarters, where sanitation workers were presented with awards and gifts. The Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) conducted plantation drives under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” program, and officials took the cleanliness pledge via the MyGov portal. Furthermore, officials from IGMRI (Hyderabad and Ludhiana) and the Central Grains Analysis Laboratory at CGO Complex, New Delhi, also carried out plantation drives.
The department has reaffirmed its commitment to continuously maintain the spirit of cleanliness even after the conclusion of the campaign and to promote environmental responsibility and public participation.
