The Indian Air Force has commenced the operational phase of 'Exercise Tarang Shakti-2026' at the Jodhpur Air Force Station. Scheduled to run from September 26 to October 12, 2026, the central theme of this multilateral air exercise is 'Strength in Partnership'. This theme focuses on enhancing mutual synergy, information sharing, and collective strength among the participating air forces.
Seven friendly nations—Australia, USA, United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh—are participating in the exercise. Additionally, several other countries will attend as observers. The exercise features a wide array of foreign aircraft, including the F-35 Lightning-2, Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J, and KC-30A, which will demonstrate operational capabilities such as combat operations, aerial transport, and mid-air refueling.
Following the successful first edition in 2024, this exercise provides air forces with an opportunity for advanced joint training and the sharing of professional experiences. Participating contingents will operate frontline fighter aircraft and support resources alongside the Indian Air Force across various missions. During the exercise, professional dialogue will be encouraged between aircrews, mission planners, and operational collaborators, with a specific emphasis on improving the understanding of aerospace safety and operational procedures.
The scope of 'Tarang Shakti' extends beyond flight activities. The program includes special seminars, industrial visits for foreign delegations, marathons, heritage tours, and yoga sessions as part of cultural and public relations activities. These initiatives aim to increase understanding of India's aerospace and industrial ecosystem while fostering mutual camaraderie among the participating teams.
This exercise provides the Indian Air Force an opportunity to demonstrate its operational capabilities and professional standards, while also highlighting India's growing indigenous aerospace and defense capabilities. The event underscores the importance of long-term partnership, cooperation, and mutual trust among the participating air forces.
