Second Prof. (Dr.) N. R. Madhava Menon Memorial Lecture Organized at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre
The event, held in the national capital, focused on the importance of a humanistic approach and sensitivity within the judicial system.

The Dr. Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC), in collaboration with the Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA), organized the second Professor (Dr.) N. R. Madhava Menon Memorial Lecture in the national capital. The program was inaugurated by Justice Surya Kant, Judge of the Supreme Court of India.
Based on the theme 'Administering Justice with Sensitivity: Human Understanding in the Legal Profession,' the lecture featured a keynote address by Justice Vikram Nath, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority. Discussing the significance of a humanistic and compassionate approach in the justice system, he emphasized that the sentiment of mercy must be grounded in the principles of law, fairness, and constitutional values.
On this occasion, Attorney General of India Dr. R. Venkataramani shared his thoughts on the life, vision, and contributions of Prof. (Dr.) N. R. Madhava Menon. Additionally, Prof. (Dr.) S. Shivakumar, Senior Professor at the Indian Law Institute, President of CLEA, and member of the 21st Law Commission of India, also addressed the gathering. The program commenced with a welcome speech by Colonel Akash Patil, Director of the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, and concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Ruchi Sharma D., Joint Secretary General of CLEA.
During the event, the Chief Justice released two books authored by Professor (Dr.) S. Shivakumar: ‘Indian Personal Law: Unity and Diversity’ and ‘Economics and Law in Context’ (co-authored by Sougat Talukdar). These books were introduced by Gauri Shankar Natesan, Ms. Nabila Zahra, and Dr. Sougat Talukdar.
This memorial lecture is organized to honor the intellectual legacy of Professor (Dr.) N. R. Madhava Menon, who played a pivotal role in the development of legal education in India. The event aims to foster dialogue among the judiciary, legal scholars, lawyers, and students regarding the evolving aspects of legal education.
